RE: World Food Day : We will be Feeding 150 Children in Celebration of the Event. A Steemit Funded Event! (Join us / Support us!)

in #community7 years ago (edited)

This world food day program is good. And it would even be better if there would be a program in the future that would educate these children how to feed themselves 'when they grow up' and not having to depend anymore in one day programs, charity or donations that just perpetuate the poor country stereotype. To teach them that when they grow up, it is also not good to make anymore children if they cannot afford it. Feeding for a day is good, but teaching how to fish would even be better.

Nevertheless, good post title and good program! :)

Yeah!!! I would definitely second this. Although, a great question is what would that actually look like in Cebu? It seems to me that the Philippines is pretty reliant on industrial food systems, and much of the indigenous agriculture has died out.

There are still farmers in the Philippines but they do not get the most up to date agricultural methods and for about half a year typhoons affect their harvest. The recent news shows increase in funding for agriculture and it could influence growth in that sector.

I agree @freehuman. We need better Reproductive health education but our government vetoed that.

Hi @freehuman. Indeed its a great idea. Little by little we are doing for the community here. We hope to pursue that idea of yours @freehuman. Thanks for dropping by!
