With Hurricane Michael expected to drop some rain on us later today, I decided to take my last walk in Mayberry earlier this morning. Mayberry isn't really the name here but since the town proper only has 1 stoplight, 2 fast food restaurants and I personally know the mayor and his family...Mayberry seems like an accurate description for this place.
I've been up here visiting my dad who's been undergoing cancer treatment. His tumors are shrinking and he's responding well, but good vibes are always appreciated. I'm going home tomorrow though because my daughter is having eye surgery in a week (again, send those good vibes our way!)
I've been too busy to write lately, making all my arrangements and working.
I needed to get my walk in today and I'm off so it seemed like a good day to pick up and write.
I also have to pack some more (this is me procrastinating) and then cook up our last Fall family feast while I'm still staying here. So I took that last walk through the neighborhood, hoping not to get too wet (which of course I did...thanks Michael) and to document all the beauty of the area near my Dad's place before I leave.
Because it's the #wednesdaywalk challenge initiated by @tattoodjay (JJ) and today's #colorchallenge is yellow initiated by @kalemandra I've included some of the yellow-ish wildflowers I am privileged to see on my typical walk as well as some of the surrounding sights.
I hope you enjoy walking with me in Mayberry. And if you are in North Florida, I send good vibes out to you. Well, I send you good vibes either way. ☺
These White Asters are all over the place here.
The Field Marigold is less common, though equally as pretty.
The leaves are changing a little. We don't get the fabulous show of colors like other regions do. This is about it before the leaves start dying and turning brown.
The neighborhood is full of speed humps. They seem to be placed every 5 feet (exaggeration). Keeping the speed down around here. whee!!!
There is a wide open field on the side of the road towards the end of my walk.
Although I have been curious what I could find in that wide open field to photograph, the concern for arrows in my @ss has kept me from pursuing my natural inquisitiveness too far in.
And last but not least I picked up these hangers-on along the way. Although there is a road, obviously I often trek off the beaten path to get to my goal.
All our journeys will end with the same final destination but we must make our own way there!
