They were on the trail up to St. Mary's Falls.

There is another hike a bit lower that says to go no further, but I usually start there and then work my way up to Gold Camp Road. From there, I continue to climb and stay right next to the creek that supplies the waterfalls and it takes me to St. Mary's Falls.

I think the hike I start with below is called Helen Hunt Falls if I am not mistaken, but I could be wrong about that.
