My new favourite silver coin - Kennedy Half Dollars

in #coins6 years ago

Hey Steemit!

As you can see from my previous posts, I'm an enthusiast of semi-numismatic coins and demonetised constitutional silver coins.

A new favourite coin of mine that I've come to appreciate recently is the US Kennedy Half-Dollar. I am from outside of the United States, and so these are not as commonly circulated here in Australia, as they would be in the United States. I don't own this particular coin, but an associate of mine brought this one to my business to show me and he has allowed me to photograph it.

Unfortunately, this is a circulated coin and as you can see there are some scratches and indents on President Kennedy's face.

And there is some tarnish on this side of the coin, but that is all to be expected as this is a circulated coin.

The Kennedy Half Dollars were created and minted to commemorate the life and presidency of President John F. Kennedy after his assassination. Prior to that, the US minted Franklin half dollars, with Benjamin Franklin's portrait on the obverse side of the coin.

Kennedy Half-Dollars contain 90% ASW and are alloyed with 10% copper. This makes them a great option for stackers who like to stack constitutional silver coins. They have a mass of 12.5g, a diameter of 30.61mm and a thickness of 2.15mm.

Comment below if you love the Kennedy half dollar or any other US constitutional silver coins.

Thanks for reading friends,

Magnum Opus.

90% U.S. Silver Coinage is very expensive, when compared to our U.S. Clad Coinage... If my P.C. Theory is correct, all U.S. Coinage is about to be Backed by U.S. Bullion Coinage... You won't find many 90% U.S. Silver Coins in Circulation these days, but they will have the same "Spending Power" as our U.S. Clad Coinage... Yes, there will be Premiums involved for Rare Dates an Collectible U.S. Coins... Everyone wanted their Money backed by Precious Metals... There will be a difference in Face Value, verses Melt Value... Melt Value will be maintained at a Lower Value than Face Value... Anyway... Feel free to Study my P.C. Theory... I have many Posts on the Topic... If you ask fellow Steem Silver Gold Members, they'd probably tell you "all" my Posts are on the Topic... lol...
