PSA: Ongoing Issues with Coinbase -- Widespread Reports of Duplicate Charges -- Public Acknowledgement by Coinbase
Coinbase-Olga Reddit Post Regarding Multiple Charges
Update as of 9:37 AM PST on February 15, 2018
We are actively investigating some reports from our customers about unexpected credit or debit card charges appearing on their statements from previous Coinbase purchases.
We can confirm that the unexpected charges are originating from our payment processing network, and are related to charges from previous purchases. To the best of our knowledge, these unexpected charges are not permanent and are in the process of being refunded. We are running joint investigations with all parties involved, and will provide updates as we receive them.
We apologize for the trouble, and are working as quickly as possible to help anyone affected by this.
This message seems to clearly state the duplicate charges are the fault of Coinbase's payment network that they likely created theirselves. If you can pause/block your linked cards, it might be wise to do so. However, keep in mind that some customers have reported charges happening weeks after they had removed their card.
Good luck out there and make sure you keep a history of your purchase so you can prove them when you need. And monitor you bank account and when you see a transaction you did not authorize contact them and let them know. They might be able to go ahead and reverse the charge for you.
I think CoinBase might be off the hook if what I just read is true.
Looks like Visa and/or Worldpay is to blame. - source
that would be something to witness. im watching closely to how this all plays out
Now this is a useful post.because now a lots of people is involve with coinbase. If there is any kind of misunderstanding happens then its gonna hurt coinbase.Because crypto related market is very competitive, other organization like polonix, bittrex etc will take it as a chance to attract people to their network.Thank's for the post.@upvoted and resteemed
These types of things happen when businesses are patched together quickly and in a non-linear fashion. This can cause a loss of confidence and over regulation. I think that if they focus on the issue they can quickly address these issues. But they must work along side the credit card companies not through a merchant account. They must go direct to the source to get it worked out properly. Thanks.
online transition need to be very careful, things are not favoring the end user in terms of credit/debit card use over internet. BEWARE before any transition.
Even tough is clearly their fault for their payment network, they won't refund shit to their costumers. BAD!
well i like this post couse there are a lot of my friends working on coinbase i will share with with them
That's kinda scary. Did they change something to make it happen? They're storing that information in a way that it can be accessed and used even without consent. Shouldn't it be a closed network?
avoiding missundearstanding coinbase and taking precautions in online transaction is needed, helpfull post , hope to see more from you
Thank you for you information! I didn't know about that! :)
Hello @netuoso
One thing is to wrong someone or a group of people; another thing is to own up to your wrongdoing. Kudos to coinbase for publicly acknowledging their shortcomings. And thanks for informing the community accordingly
