Home Brew - Coffee Talk #3

Hello Steemit Friends!
As I have previously told you, I like the coffee I make at home. I do not make a special trip to go to the chain coffee shops because it is expensive and so often dark roast is the specialty which is not my preference. That being said I will buy the chain related ground coffee at my local grocery store (the light or medium roast) when I can get a good deal. So, after the Christmas holiday at my local grocery store I could not resist when I saw the Starbucks Peppermint Mocha flavored coffee at half price.

Note that I don’t usually like pre-flavored coffees. There is the potential for a funky aftertaste with pre-flavored coffees which blows my happy coffee experience. But in this case, I was still in a holiday mode and peppermint mocha peaked my interest (and it was cheap enough, if it was horrid I wouldn’t be compelled to drink anyway).

I was so happy when I brewed the coffee and the house smelled like the holidays, not overpowering but it was there. The first time I had the coffee with my normal sweetener and it was good. I got the peppermint tones with chocolate essence. The second time, I added a little heavy cream along with my sweetener. It was awesome, decadent, rich and hot and the peppermint mocha was right there. Best of all – no funky aftertaste. Yay!

You better believe that the next time I went to the store I made sure to check the discount isle and happily picked up a couple more. Yes - I will treat myself to a little Christmas this summer.
