Правительство Колумбии разработало программу по борьбе с производством кокаина. Данная программа представляет собой уничтожение листьев коки по всей Колумбии. Для привлечения к этой работе фермеров, правительство будет не только поощрять их работу денежным вознагрождением, но также окажет им техническую помощь. По словам политиков, все фермеры учавствующие в этой программе, будут получать более 350 долларов ежемесячно. В качестве альтернативы коки, фермеров обучат выращивать другие сельскохозяйственные культуры.
Правительство намерено потратить 340 млн долларов, которые попадут в руки фермеров, подчеркивая, что данная программа затронет свыше 50 тыс. семей. Цель правительства - полное уничтожение 100 тыс. гектаров коки. Однако власти Колумбии пока не знают, каким способом уничтожения стоит воспользоваться. По некоторым данным, количество колумбийских семей, зависящих от торговли листьями коки, превышает 64 тысячи. Дабы подготовить людей к этой акции, власти постановили привлечь их к изучению других сфер деятельности.
