Pig cages

Today I went to Huka Falls nearby Lake Taupo in New Zealand. Huka Falls isn't a large waterfall but its water flow can go up to 220k litres per second.

I was standing on the bridge watching the water gushing towards me and suddenly thought of a Hong Kong idiom about pigs cages, and Steemit.

In the old days, bamboo woven pig cages were used to transport the pigs around. These cages were also used for capital punishment particularly for adultry. The convicts were locked into the cages and drowned alive. When the pigs or poor souls were drowned, the water would cause their body to expand. In Hong Kong, the nickname for money or wealth is water, so the barbaric action of drowning a pig or person in a pig cage became a form of kind greeting to wish someone to make a lot of money.

So when I saw Huka Falls rushing towards me, I thought of everyone on Steemit. Apart from writing great posts, I hope everyone makes a lot of wealth. Keep Steeming!
