I got banned for life from a club for writing a Google review

Yes last night I got banned (for life) from a club in Madison, Wisconsin. There are only a few actual dance clubs in Madison, WI. The bar scene is amazing but only a few actual clubs. The best clubs are the gay clubs like Plan B in town.

My best childhood friend from Chicago was in town visiting me on his way to see his parents during his vacation from Nursing school. He got into Madison around 8 pm where we headed to the Wisconsin Union Terrace to enjoy the sunset and drink craft beer. There we enjoyed the great weather and caught up on life.

Then my friend wanted to go out to some of the bars to rage and dance. We headed to the Double U (one of the better bars in Madison) around 10:30. It was a little early for the night, but I wanted to show him the available venues. Then he asked me where the best club to dance was within walking distance. I named a few, and he wanted to visit the closest one so we walked to the club*.
*I am not mentioning the name for privacy reasons and renaming it Club NF (No Fun)

Club NF Entrance

Club NF has a $5 cover for the night which is very cheap. They scan our faces and our IDs to make sure we are 18+ to get in and 21+ to drink. I have been this place only once when it had different ownership, but I have not been to it since Club NF opened. It is a sizable venue for Madison, WI, and is actually in the basement from where you enter from the street. I will say Club NF brings in great EDM, Rap, Hip Hop, and other great talented artists from around the world like Felix Cartal, 3LAU, Waka Flocka Flame, Yellow Claw, etc.

We go downstairs and to the bar get some drinks. The club is pretty empty at 11 pm but just starting to fill up. There was a DJ playing random music. My friend asks the bartender for the price of Tequila shots. She tells him $4 per shot which is a decent price in my opinion. He was stoked because that is very cheap for shots in Chicago. The bartender gives us the shots. We cheers and drink. The bartender gives the bill to my friend for $14. It turns out she is a new bartender and shots were actually $7 a piece. My friend is pretty perturbed and asks why he just got billed $14. The bar manager comes over to access the situation, and my friend asks for a refund. The bar manager refuses and won't refund the bill (just terrible customer service). She wouldn't give a refund or an extra shot as a way to make the situation better. Every time I have been at bar, and the bar screws up, they either give away free stuff or refund some of it. The manager basically told us to go away and nothing will change.

My friend and I walk away. I have a great idea to use my Google Local guide status to bring this to light on Google Reviews. I have given fair reviews and ratings to many of the bars, restaurants, and venues around town to help people navigate Madison. I wrote "bar tender told me shots were $4. Charged me $7 per shot. Told me to not argue with her. Not going to this place again. This club is an absolute joke. I would stay far away" I gave them a 1 star which is maybe harsh, but they have an overall score of 2.9 with 76 reviews and many other comments worse than mine. Then my friend and I proceed to the dance floor to shake it off and try to have some fun.

30 minutes later (1 hour after arriving) security comes to the dance floor finds me and says my ID didn't scan so I need to go back to the entrance of the club. My friend comes with me as I am being escorted there. Then at the front gate, they saw I am being banned for life. I asked why. They gave me a whole host of different BS reasons like I was on their ban list from before (I had only been there once with no problems), my ID wasn't valid or wouldn't scan, and other crap. My friend and I argued with them for a couple minutes when they told me they would prosecute me for trespassing if I didn't leave right away. My friend was allowed to stay but did not want to be there by himself. He then talked to the owner who finally alluded to the Google post I had made was the real reason I was banned for life and would not be allowed back in ever again. Also we did not get a refund on our cover (which is fine.

This is funny because I don't ever go this club anyway. It was a fun time and a good story with my best friend. I can't stand bars/clubs that rip you off or have terrible customer service. All we wanted to do is dance and have some fun.
