This is one of the pieces that really sparked my interest in continuing to write orchestral music. I felt like at the second half of the piece I really tapped into a sound that I had been meaning to approach and that I had wanted to be able to create. Working in notation programs, like Finale or Sibelius, I felt like I had grown to hate some of the lower brass, because their samples were quite atrocious. But working with instruments that actually sounded like they should I really fell in love with their heroic might.
