PANAMA CITY — Brian D’Isernia, the CEO of Eastern Shipbuilding Group is sharing the good news with everyone in Bay County.
This family-owned company, a relative unknown in the shipbuilding world, won the largest contract in the history of U.S. Coast Guard, worth $10.5 billion, to build 25 offshore patrol cutters. To make that happen, Eastern will be hiring over 1,000 employees within the next two years for its shipyards in Millville and Allanton.
What does this mean?
EASTERN SHIPBUILDING CONTRACT BY THE NUMBERS
This $10.5 billion contract is the largest contract in
the history of the U.S. Coast Guard, which Eastern
Shipbuilding Group landed in Bay County.
Eastern has started hiring 40
specialists, engineers and architect to fine-tune
design.
Eastern expects to add 1,000 Craftsmen to its
payroll at the peak of production.
Eastern currently employees 1,500 People. For each
job Eastern creates, four more are expected to be
created within the community.
$57,808 is the amount of money each
resident in Bay County would receive if $10.5 billion
were divided evenly.
