Great post. The historical origin of circumcison in western culture was the biblical story, in which Abraham promised to cut off the forskin of his sons. Doctors later tried to justify preventing masturbation to prevent blindness, infertility, etc. all nonsense that has since been scientifically discredited. In some non-western cultures, little girls are also mutilated to supposedly promote fertility.
