This usual part of life is now quite unusual! The simple joy of sitting in a cafe was once a daily part of my life. Not any more. Now we are all wearing masks, conscious of where we are and who is nearby. The joy of sitting and enjoying time in a cafe is now a luxury - and a risk!
This week I had an hour to spend so I stopped at a cafe for a take away coffee and as it wasn’t crowded at all, I stepped into the inviting cafe to soak up a little of the ambience and remember the way it used to be!
So Cafe Nero is an Italian cafe chain and I work in Cyprus, but they have a great way to create an experience no matter what country you’re in. Here’s a photo of the cafe inside with the cosy chairs, dim lighting, and trendy music. The fake bookcase adds an air of intelligence and encourages thoughtfulness and study. At least the vibe used to be there, before things became abnormal.
I’m sure the high ceilings also help add the feeling of space and airiness while also helping prevent echoes and dampening sounds.
Greenery also helps make the cafe inviting.
At this time of the year the cafe has the seasonal vibe also with the Christmas tree beautifully adorned and a few tasteful decorations. I like it myself as this is an important time of year - even if fewer people will see the inside of the cafe.
I did enter the cafe for the coffee but I stayed for the ambience! I wish life was a little bit more normal so that sitting in a cafe was not such a risky thing to do!
