Visiting Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral Church

It was a good Friday noon when my friends invited me to come with them to finish our documentary project. This documentary project will serve as our last and final project for this summer class. It was an urgent matter because the due is almost at hand that is why we need to pass it before the due date arrives.

We commuted from our rendezvous(University of Cebu Lapu - Lapu and Mandaue) to the destination we planned to go(Cathedral Church and Sr. Santo Nino Church). It took us 30 minutes of travelling from our rendezvous to our destination. The atmosphere was humid and sweats are all over our bodies. It's time for us to replenish ourselves by drinking Buko juice. Buko Juice is so common in our country. We Filipinos are into drinking this fruit. It helps us replenish all the sweats excreted from our bodies. With all the travels we had we finally reached our destination. As we took our steps heading to the place we have planned. We noticed a tableau up above us and took a photo with the tableau. Not knowing it was Rajah Humabon, the first chieftain who embraces Christianity in the Philippines. Knowing this guy means so much to me. That is why I didn't hesitate to take a photo with this epic being.

Cathedral Church

It is one of the very first churches in the Philippines. There was no exact date when it was built but when Cebu became a diocese, the "Cathedral" is one of the first churches being built. It is located in the heart of Cebu City that's why it is called the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral. It has undergone calamities particularly Fire(sunog) and Earthquake(linog) but it stayed strong like the faithful believers stayed strong to their faith. Cebu Mertopolitan Cathedral's location is in Barangay Santo Nino, Cebu City just right next to Basilica Minore Del Santo Nino.

Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral Park

In traditional days every church has its own park to serve as their passage way or entrance which people take their first step before entering the church. Having this place will attract all the people to pass through the narrow isle of the plaza, because during the Spanish era, the plaza is usually used as the starting point before the priest reaches the altar. This answers the question why some of the churches have their own plaza.
