A few days ago we finally found some time to have the kids put up the Christmas tree and decorate it how they like. I know from personal experience that they are really good at attempting to put together a Christmas tree beyond beautiful! Really focus on that attempt at beauty, it isn't always a perfect-looking tree that holds that beauty. To me and I imagine any parent out there, it is always such an amazing, gorgeous thing to see your kids put their heart into doing something they enjoy or even putting everything they have into something they might not be good at or enjoy but they want to do their best at any given task or situation.
Putting the simple plastic tree together before they get started is usually something we make sure we get done so that they don't have to fiddle around with the less exciting more annoying part of having the Christmas tree decorated. Once that is done they have free reign on how and what they want to put onto the Christmas tree to decorate it to their liking. This can sometimes be problematic because well it is 4 kids trying to work together to achieve a similar goal with different visions of what they want the tree to look like in the end haha. So, for the most part, they really get along until, well someone doesn't like something one of their siblings has done and then that leads to an argument about something so simple yet ridiculous.
The girls are usually always wanting to have all the pinks and purples they can get their hands on. The boys are wanting to get as much blue or red they can carry in their arms so they are faster than the girls at putting it up the way they want. To save and avoid the arguments they get a nice box of every coloured bauble we can get, they want a sparkly silver or gold use it. Do you want a duck to hand on the tree? the kids will take it and put it up. Just to be completely honest, the duck hanging on the tree is mine, I love that dumb yellow duck on my Christmas tree haha, cute little fucker he is.
So we have the baubles up this year, awesome! Too bad we forgot that is much easier to have the tinsel on before those baubles so now the kids have to navigate with their clumsy and at times uncoordinated hands with getting the tinsel on and breaking as few baubles as they can. Mission was a complete success, they broke a tonne of them. Back to work kids, those baubles really need replacing now, also take out the rubbish and can someone please sweep up all the annoying messy Christmas tree and broken tinsel off the floor thanks.
I am not really a celebration type of person, one thing that I do enjoy since having kids though is how happy they all are when it comes to any type of holiday or birthday. It truly does warm my heart and put a massive stupid smile on my face just seeing them be themselves. No worry about judgment or ridicule, they are just happy being themselves and enjoying the moments as they come. Simple things like this joy that they bring me really do help me grow as a person and really appreciate life as it is. The good, the bad, it is all a part of the journey and adventure that is life.
To finish up the tree this year it was my oldest girl's moment to shine and put the shiny silver star atop the tree. Each year we rotate who gets to do it and each year they all want to do it, so you can imagine how much fun that is diffusing that little situation with logic to kids. Thankfully all went pretty smooth overall and it was a great afternoon spent talking about all the Christmas festivities we will be getting into over the school holidays. I personally am excited to get myself some new socks, not really the jocks, I don't need those anymore at my age haha.
To anyone that reads this I hope you have an amazing December doing whatever it is over the coming holidays with friends or family. I'll throw up the much anticipated individual photos the kids most enjoy once they have finished with the tree. They ahhhhh sometimes really do some weird shit in photos haha.
Much love people <3

making the time to read about my little blessings <3
Super fun read, really love those moments also, realy good read this one brings it home for sure
Definitely, can relate to this! Have 4 siblings. Looking back, sometimes I wonder how the hell my parents were able to raise us! Congrats on making that work out for you. Thanks for sharing your story. Somehow, I'm realizing how different perspectives dads and mothers view Christmas! 😆
Cool Christmas tree, Cool Kids, and nice touch with the "very cool dumb rubber duckie"!
Yeah the 4 kids together haha, it really is amazing. Thankfully they all are wonderful little people so they don't cause too much trouble for us :D I am interested in understanding the different perspectives a mother may have on Christmas now though haha, my partner loves Christmas! I just love the people around me and seeing others happy.
Yeesss! I love that little duck haha
