Merry Christmas. The Reason For The Season

in #christmas11 days ago

It is that time of the year when a lot of people celebrate the Christmas. To some people, it is a period of celebration, decorations, music, travelling, eating the best of meals, visiting people, and all whatnot. However, what some people fail to understand is that Christmas is not just about the date - 25th December, but it carries a deep essence of hope, love, sacrifices, and a promise of new beginnings. Many cultures mark Christmas in various ways, but all of them are still rooted in the value that uplift one another and draw humanity closer to themselves.

You have to look beyond what to eat, what to wear, where to go to, and the celebration to have, and start looking at how to make impact in the life of others. While growing up, I learnt something from one of my uncles which I have kept till this day. For each festive period, Christmas included, he used to buy foodstuffs and other items and distribute to people around him at his level at that time. I learnt that from him and I started practising it. You can Imagine the kind of joy that comes into the heart of people when you have done good to them, and when they are happy because of your good deeds to them.

It is true that you cannot satisfy the demands of the entire humanity, but from the level that you are, and with what you have, you should let something from you to drop for others. Whatever you eat this season, it will still vanish after it must have digested. The celebration you had may also be forgotten over time. But the lives you touch will remain impacted for long. Your true worth as a human is not in the what you own or in your possessions, but it is in how your have affected lives positively. This is a period and an opportunity to extend kindness to others and share with them from what you have.

At the core value of Christmas is love. You cannot say you have a heart for humanity until you have love in your heart. More so, you cannot also say that you have love in your heart if you cannot give. Of a truth, the sincerity of your love is substantiated by your acts of giving. There are people around you who, by reason of circumstances, cannot afford what to celebrate the Yuletide with. You can become a hope for them by sharing what you have with them. It is not the size of what you give that actually matters, but what matters is that it came from your heart. You may not have everything in the world, but use the ones you have to do good.

Restoring hope to humankind is a fundamental essence of Christmas too. Your acts of goodness should remind others that there is still hope for humanity. It is what you do that actually says a lot about who you are. Your acts of goodness are messages of hope that the people can see. You will be surprised how just very seemingly small acts of goodness and kindness you do to someone in this Yuletide can restore the hope that someone has and can even help them to pull through with life. More so, the acts of goodness can become like a ripple reaction and can also motivate others to do the same. So try to show love in this season, but beyond that, it should not stop in this season - it should become a lifestyle for you.
