First Christmas In Farmhouse - Gifts of the heart

It's our first Christmas in the new home and we're still living in a construction zone. But, it's so much better each day. Projects are being completed. Our kitchens counter tops are almost finish! We've decked the halls and put up a little tree.

However, this year I didn't get to make the homemade gifts I love to give, so Amazon and other online stores have been our go to shopping malls. Because of this I've had the challenge of trying to find gifts which are truly from the heart. It's not easy. Each of our children (adults) were asked for a wish list. Some came through and others took the easy way out - "just get us a gift card mom." Is it me or do you think exchanging gift cards is just not as personal?

Since I'm pretty sure my children haven't discovered my blog yet ;) I'll let you know how I'm fulfilling some of the wishes. First born wants a DNA test - I think that counts as homemade since I made her LOL. Youngest has an unruly beard and will get some nice essential oil beard conditioners. His wife gave some hints on his new hobbies. He's wanting to forge knives and has been looking for nice wood for the handles. Did you know you can find wood from around the world on Ebay? Now I'm crossing my fingers that the wood from China and the Ukraine arrive before Christmas.

Now I'm not getting off the hook with my husband either. His list wasn't very descriptive which is causing me some consternation. I'm considering replacing his billfold. His very old billfold. You can actually see his ID and money through holes in that wallet. Do I replace his beloved but very tattered billfold or not? Fortunately, I did score some gifts on Cyber Monday for him though.

Our homestead kitties can't be forgotten either. They're getting treats and a new cushy bed. Those kitties have worked very hard this year to keep our mice population down and they always warn me when scorpions have made it into the house. Yeah Poly and Ollie!

Next year I promise to make more gifts. I already have some in mind. But, this year my gifts from the heart will have been made by others.

A special thank you to all of those who spend your days making, selling and shipping all our gifts. You are have made Christmas possible for us.

Remember - Freedom must be exercised.

Wishing you a Blessed and Merry ChristmasDonna 2017.jpg

First year in your new home should be awesome for you!

I'm really enjoying baking with a real oven and have made Christmas cookies ;) Not exactly Keto, but I'll get back on that program after the holidays. Thanks weetree for following me.

You are WAY ahead of me... no tree up yet. Haven't even gotten around to asking someone to dig it out of storage... have to add that to my honey-do list.

I LOVE getting homemade versus store bought. It makes the gift-giver really think and have to know me.

I love homemade gifts too. Merry Christmas goldenawne
