Sometimes it is very hard to lose sight of what is really important in life. It could be hard financial times, emotional pressures and problems, or a series of unfortunate events that strain our worldview.
As we approach Christmas I found myself down as I looked under the tree and found... well, nothing.
Growing up I always had real trees for Christmas trees. The smell, the feel and the maintenance of them, if another chore to do, always helped spread the feeling throughout the house. During a trying time I had to make the change to a fake tree due to health issues with my wife. She did her best to make the most of it and shortly before passing she finished a paper chain that helped her remember the carefree days of her youth.

Looking upon the tree reminded me that it is really all about family and friends. Spreading the good cheer and helping each other to see the best there is.
So pull up a chair, if you will be alone or with family, you'll always have a spot at a table somewhere. Enjoy a good meal and good company. Tell stories of the best of times and look forward to the ones still to come. Keep your traditions going and pass them along to others.
