Introversion is a dangerous preoccupation with yourself. it always leads to depression and negativity. Why? Because inevitably you focus on what's wrong in your life instead of what's good.
"No matter what happens, always be thankful."(1 Thessalonians 5:18 NLT)
Introversion is a dangerous preoccupation with yourself. it always leads to depression and negativity. Why? Because inevitably you focus on what's wrong in your life instead of what's good.
Let me ask you a question. Have you ever met a perfectionist who was truly happy? I havent!
Whenever things must always be a certain , life can be pretty miserable, because life constantly changes. Instead of being content and grateful for their blessings, perfectionist dwell on what's wrong , and their need to fix it.
It could be a disorganized closet, a dent in their car, a job they did that was less than perfect, or a few pounds they'd like to loose. or it could be someone else's imperfections. or the way they live their lives.
They very fact That perfectionist constantly think about such things makes it impossible for them to be thankful. and an attitude of gratitude is basic to all happiness.
We are not talking about striving for excellence ; no , we 're talking about fixating on what's wrong. sure, there will be a better way to do something. But that doesn't mean you can't enjoy life the way it is at the moment.
Paul was in one of Europe's worst prisons when he wrote, "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again : rejoice"(Phillipians 4:4 NIV). That's what 's called "an atitude of gratitude" and you've got to have it if you 're going to survive and overcome.
LOOK at this man; they could lock him up, but they couldn't keep him down. Why? Because his perspective constantly lifted him above circumstances. When you are in the center of God-given purpose, you can smile in the storm, because you know- you absolutely know-you're coming out on top.
David said, "Seven times a day will I praise thee" (Psalm 119:164). Forget the coffee breaks; start having praise breaks! punctuate your day with them because praise gets your eyes off the problem and onto the problem solver.
it changes your focus from what's wrong to what's possible.
I noticed that when children were learning to walk, they'd keep lifting up their hands. Then I discovered why. It was to give themselves a sense of balance.
What a lesson! Your life will never be balance if all you do is to ask, but never adore -petition but never praise.
If you want potatoes, you ll find the best in Idaho or Maine. But if you want bananas, you 'll have to go to Jamaica. Why? Because climate determines what you can grow.
What's the point? Simply this: the strength you need to overcome , and the attitudes you need to keep moving forward, can only be cultivated in a climate of gratitude and continual thanksgiving. In that kind of environment your faith will grow, your phocus will change , and your memories will begin to heal.
When that happens , the power of the past will be broken.
