False prophesying comes from deceived hearts or those who spoke a borrowed message (Jeremiah 14:13-14) or
people who made themselves prophets for material gains (Micah 3:5).
True prophecies do not contradict the scriptures. They agree with sound doctrines (1Peter 1:25).
True prophets confess Christ (1John 4:1-3). False prophets teach sexual immorality and they try to lead people away from obedience to God's word (2Peter 2:1-3).
They also deceive with miraculous signs (Matthew 24:11,24).
They lack the fruit of the Spirit (Matthew 7:15-16).
Some claim divinity and their prophecies do not come to pass (Deuteronomy 18:20-22)
