The Hebrew word for praise is "Yaweh", which means to praise, give thanks, or confess.
Praising God is simply giving him the recognition he deserves. One way we can define what praising God means, is to consider the end result. The end result for giving God praise is to exalt his name and him alone.
HOW DO WE PRAISE GOD:
We can praise God in song; Singing praises to God is common even back in biblical times. The main purpose of the psalms is to praise God (indicated by the numerous songs of praise).
We can praise God in dance; Psalms 149:3, Jer13:13
In prayer; Phil 4:6, col 4:2
We can praise God with a shout; Isaiah 12:6 ezra 3:11-13
With the clapping of hands; psalms 47:1 Psalms 48:8
By the use of instruments; Psalms 150:1-6 Psalms 98:4-6
No matter how we praise God, we must be sure to lift up his name above all else. Let us praise God with the idea of exulting him above all else and putting him before other things or people.
Praise the Lord...
