Text: Rom.12:1-2; 2Cor7:1; Gen. 3:7,21; Prov. 7:6-10.
lntroduction:
A new or converted heart will always manifest in changes that cann01 he seen Physically or outwardly (inward change) and changes that can be seen outwardly (outward change) these two aspects are necessary manifestations or indicators that a person has actually experienced genuine conversion into a new life. physically, meekness, humility, chastity, sobriety, modesty, readiness to work and love are all seen coming from the new heart.
From our bible texts, we can see that our bodies (outlook) should be presented a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God (not to men and their worldly standard) as testimony of our transformation. We should also cleanse ourselves from the filthiness of the flesh and we saw that God changed the idea of man about dressing right from The Garden of Eden.
From the passages, we can understand that the physical outlook of a professing converted person is very important and that the bible is not silent about the appearance of a Christian. Some people will be quick to say it is not what we wear or how we appear physically that is important to God but we should be quick also to know that a holy heart does not condone an unholy outward appearance and to know that the entity called "man" is a whole and that his/her inner life cannot be divorced from his /her outward life. Infact we can say, from the knowledge of the bible that our outward life (physical manifestations) is a direct product of our inner life (state of our heart).
Discussions:
Let us think on the following situations:
- Exodus 2:16-19-Was Moses an Egyptian? Why do we think he was so described?
- Gen. 35:l-4-What lessons do we learn from this about the things we put on?
- Judges 8:22-24 and Galatians 4:22-31 - What can we deduce from comparing the two passages about who we are?
- Prov.7:10- Do we care that we will be addressed the way we are dressed?
- Deut. 32:5 and Rev. 21:27, 8 - Do we follow God's standard or Men's Standard as
Christians? - 1Timothy. 2:9-10 and 1Pet. 3:21-22-We have the examples to follow.
- Ex. 25:1-11 and Ex. 3:21, Ex. 12:35-36-There would be a sanctuary, a Tabernacle to be built in the wilderness where they would need the gold and jewels taken from the Egyptians.
Conclusion.:
After, our genuine conversion, we become very easy to instruct because we have a new heart. Do not put the word of God on the weighing balance of man. The new heart manifest as light for men to see. Let us pray for grace to follow the new life dictated or inspired by the "new heart".
