The Apostle Paul says something very interesting in 1 Corinthians 7:21:
“Were you a slave when you were called? Don’t let it trouble you—although if you can gain your freedom, do so.” (NIV)
The modern day translation of the word slave here is “employee”. Sure, we were slaves to sin. But when you study this verse in its context, you will find out that Paul is talking here about being a slave in the economic sense. We are “bound” to our employers, and this is having negative consequences for many people. I just found out about a book that came out recently where a professor from Stanford University is saying that working for others, particularly in big corporations and organizations, is literally making people sick and having a negative effect on their health and even their finances, or financial health. So a lot of us need to get free from our jobs!
Paul tells us that if we can gain our freedom, we should do it. The tense at the end of this verse implies that it is not a suggestion; it is a command: “...if you can gain your freedom, do so.”
Can we gain our freedom? Yes, through Steemit and other entrepreneurial activities!
More about this tomorrow: the brainwashing most of us have experienced...Steem on!
