I firmly believe the fires of hell will never go out. If that were not so Jesus would never have said, Mark 9:47-49 ' And if your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell, where “‘the worms that eat them do not die, and the fire is not quenched.’
However, the very nature of God permits all of us to choose not to go there. If you don't want to go there, confess your sins and repent and accept Jesus as your savior. He already paid the price for our sins.
