VERSE: These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.—Deuteronomy 6:6-7
Thoughts on the Verse
Wherever you are, whatever you are doing, whatever time of day or night, glorify God in your deed and words, tell of him to all, young or old.
Ask yourself: have you told someone about Jesus? It may be a stranger, a neighbor, or even a family member, have you taken a minute to share the word of God?
You who have knowledge of his commandments, are here challenged to tell of them that those who might not know, will come to learn of our Lord Jesus, and by that be saved.
Keeping God’s commandments brings life, and in so encouraging us to keep them upon our hearts, God is asking us to choose life and prosperity as opposed to death.
In proverbs 3:2 the bible says:
My son, do not forget my teaching,
but keep my commands in your heart,
for they will prolong your life many years
and bring you peace and prosperity.
More than that, he tells us to impress them on our children and on others that they too may become partakers in the kingdom of God.
