FRIDAY WAKE-UP CALL🗣🎤
2 Tim 1:1-8 or Titus 1:1-5 / Luke 10:1-9
Sts. Timothy and Titus
In the New Testament, 13 books were attributed to St. Paul, and 2 of those are personal letters written✍ to individuals - Timothy and Titus.👬
Today the Church honours - St. Timothy and St. Titus👥. In a way they were closest to St. Paul and he often mentioned about them in his letters and also wrote letters to them. He also put them in a charge of the churches he had founded.⛪
Paul in the first reading today, talks about the faith of two✌ women - Lois who was Timothy's grandmother, and Eunice who was Timothy's mother. It was these two women who sowed the seeds of faith in Timothy.🤔
And in the alternate 1st reading of today, Paul refers to Titus in his letter as ”my true child in our common faith.” We see the role of Paul as a guardian.👨👦
When St. Paul chose Timothy and Titus to be bishops of their respective churches⛪, he was not looking merely at their gifts and talents. In fact, they were rather young to be the bishops of the churches according to their history. But what St. Paul saw 👀in them was faith, and that was enough for him to entrust the care of the churches into their hands.🤲
We thank God for those letters. The spoken word🗣 can be powerful, yet the written word✍ can have a more lasting effect and also it can be a source of encouragement and support for the recipients. A short sincere note will certainly go a long way for them.👌🏼
