UNITY IN THE HOME

Unity is the state of being one; oneness, a whole or totality as combining all its parts into one.

The state or fact of being united or combined into one, as of the parts of a whole; unification.

Absence of diversity; unvaried or uniform character. Oneness of mine, feeling, etc as among a number of persons; concord, harmony or agreement.

God is a chief strategist , a master planner, He foresees and foreknows. The bible recorded that He knoweth the end of a thing right from the beginning. He is the God of order.

He recognizes hierarchy because He knows that the strictly adherent to hierarchy or order in the family will lead to unity.

There is power in unity. When there is unity in the family, whatever they want to achieve nothing can stop them as seen in the book of Genesis 11:6.

And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.

Even God Almighty Himself is united. God the father, God the son and God the Holy Spirit are all one. So He instituted order and hierarchy in the family.

The family has great impact on the kingdom of God. So if the family is not united, the devil takes advantage of the individuals under it and the church also suffers. God does not desire any one to perish but that all should be saved and come to repentance.

The bible classified the roles of every member of the family so that there will be unity in the family and the people and the church of God will live in victory, dominion, harmony and love.

These roles are:

WIFE:

The role of the wife is to be submissive to their own husband knowing that the husband is the head of the family.

Wives, be subject (be submissive and adapt yourselves) to your own husbands as [a service] to the Lord.

For the husband is head of the wife as Christ is the Head of the church, Himself the Savior of [His] body.

As the church is subject to Christ, so let wives also be subject in everything to their husbands. (Eph.5:22-24 Amp)

HUSBAND:

The husband is admonished to love his wife just as Christ loved the church and died for it.

Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her.

Even so husbands should love their wives as [being in a sense] their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself.

For no man ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and carefully protects and cherishes it, as Christ does the church,

Because we are members (parts) of His body. (Eph.5:25,28-30 AMP)

Both the Husband and the Wife were admonished in the book of Ephesians 5:33:

However, let each man of you [without exception] love his wife as [being in a sense] his very own self; and let the wife see that she respects and reverences her husband [that she notices him, regards him, honors him, prefers him, venerates, and esteems him; and that she defers to him, praises him, and loves and admires him exceedingly].

CHILDREN:

The children also were not left out. The bible admonished them to honor their parents. Also went further to say that without that, they may not have long life and it may not be well with them.

Children, obey your parents in the Lord [as His representatives], for this is just and right.

Honor (esteem and value as precious) your father and your mother—this is the first commandment with a promise—

That all may be well with you and that you may live long on the earth. (Eph.6:1-3 AMP)

FATHERS' ROLE TO THE CHILDREN:

The book of Eph.6:4 states the roles of fathers to their children as below:

Fathers, do not irritate and provoke your children to anger [do not exasperate them to resentment], but rear them [tenderly] in the training and discipline and the counsel and admonition of the Lord.

SERVANTS:

Servants according to the book of Eph.6:5-8 are admonished to be obedient, respectul and to serve without eye service because they are serving God by rendering service sincerely to others.

Servants (slaves), be obedient to those who are your physical masters, having respect for them and eager concern to please them, in singleness of motive and with all your heart, as [service] to Christ [Himself]—

Not in the way of eye-service [as if they were watching you] and only to please men, but as servants (slaves) of Christ, doing the will of God heartily and with your whole soul;

Rendering service readily with goodwill, as to the Lord and not to men,

Knowing that for whatever good anyone does, he will receive his reward from the Lord, whether he is slave or free.

MASTERS TO SERVANTS:

And finally masters are admonished to treat their staffs in the way they want to be treated. Because there is an overall boss that is neither partial nor a respecter of man.

You masters, act on the same [principle] toward them and give up threatening and using violent and abusive words, knowing that He Who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and that there is no respect of persons (no partiality) with Him. (Eph.6:9 AMP)

In conclusion therefore, in the book of 1 Corinthian 14:40 the bible says let all things be done decently and in order. So follow strictly these instructions then there will be unity in the family. This will benefit the people, the church and the entire kingdom of God.
