Surrendering to the process is not a powerful gift. As the proverb says, “There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death” (Proverbs 14:12-NIV8). We tend to combat the process when the timing and means are not favorable to us, or the results feel unfair or unreasonable. Combating an unfair process is not a bad thing; Combating God’s process of making us the man He created us to be is catastrophic. Keeping away from that sinkhole takes courage and a belief that God is more capable of determining what’s require and best for us at any given moment.
God’s desires of molding us into the His image will involve pain, conflict, loss, and discomfort. Many times we anticipated, divert, or refuse entry of these growth possibilities into our lives, missing God’s process all together. In the end, because God loves us, He will corner us through situations until the pain go beyond our fear. So many times we desire we had done the unbreakable thing and occupied the conflict or the process earlier. We should have trusted God to work instead of releasing and keeping away. We desire we had freely offer to do something rather than waited to comply. We might be there right now. If we’ll surrender and do the accurate thing we don’t feel like doing, we’ll be glad we did.
Remember no single thing happens to us except if it passes from God to us. And if it comes that way, it comes with a purpose - to make us like Christ.
