Love & Marriage 182 - The Patio - Aesthetic Togetherness

I am back sharing from the book, Blueprints for a solid marriage, of Dr Steve Stephens. He uses the analogy that your marriage is like a home. Each room or space in the house represents a different area of your marriage.

I now look at the patio which represents the Aesthetic Togetherness in your marriage. To enjoy beauty together from your patio makes live more positive and beautiful. It represents a place of simplicity and an escape from the hectic pace of life.

Life is difficult read the first three words of M.Scott Peck's classic. The Road less travelled Peck is right, but life is also filled with an amazing amount of beauty.

In marriage, there are hard times and difficulties. It is easy to allow the frustrations, challenges and disappointments of everyday life to distract you from all the beauty surrounding you. Sometimes it's even hard to see the beauty. Aesthetic togetherness involves sharing beauty with each other. This togetherness will enrich your life and your marriage. It brightens your joy, heightens your closeness and intensifies your love. The more you focus on sharing the beauty in life, the better the most difficult seasons of your marriage will appear.

In order to enjoy this togetherness, you will need a strategy. Moving to a Tropical Island will be one way to discover beauty, but for most of us, that is not possible. Part one of your strategy is to recognise the five areas of beauty. Part two involves a willingness to commit to five responses to beauty. If you can succeed to combine these parts your marriage will become more beautiful.

For a couple to be healthy and growing, that couple must develop an attitude of being open to all that is beautiful. If you have this attitude and your spouse doesn't don't be discouraged. An attitude toward the beautiful is so contagious that if you focus on it and nurture it, sooner or later your spouse will succumb to its powerful force.
So check your attitude.
Open your eyes and ears.
Discover the beauty around you.

Next post we will start to look at the five areas of beauty.

Thank you for reading.

Honesty and openness coupled to a shared and mutually owned vision certainly works amazing miracles not only between ourselves, but also in our work with the poor! A 24 hour togetherness and if the one stumbles, the other one is ready to pick them up! Biblical, as we have become one flesh Lady @hope777

This is such a nice reply, I really feel good reading it. Blessings to you!

Yes, marriage is like house and there are different aspects like different rooms in houses. And sometimes it's good to analyse the situations and after analysis it's better to travel to explore more in life and in relationship and if travelling is not possible then have to go for walk, dinner any other stuff.

And as you said, everything is an strategy in life and to rise the bonding in an relationships we need strategic steps in life which can keep that balance in an relationship.
