BIBLE Study.jpg

I pray that the Holy Spirit will reveal all that we are going to do in this studies.

1 Cor 2: 10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.

If you want to know God to His full extent then I am inviting you to do this studies with me. This next series of studies will be about The Trinity.

THE TRINITY OF GOD

While the word Trinity does not appear in the Bible, the concept is clearly biblical. The doctrine of the Trinity or Triunity of God is a very difficult mystery to understand but is essential to believe by faith.
The basic concept of the Trinity is that the LORD is ONE GOD in THREE PERSONS and THREE PERSONS in ONE GOD.
The persons are distinct but not separate and are all equally of the same essence or nature.

OLD TESTAMENT KEY TEXTS

The Old Testament at least implies the existence of the Trinity although it does not expressly teach it. Here are some key texts:

Threeness - (diversity) of persons.

Genesis 1:26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all[b] the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

Isaiah 48:16 “Come near to Me, hear this:
I have not spoken in secret from the beginning;
From the time that it was, I was there.
And now the Lord God and His Spirit
Have[a] sent Me.”

I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the Lord
And the praises of the Lord,
According to all that the Lord has bestowed on us,
And the great goodness toward the house of Israel,
Which He has bestowed on them according to His mercies,
According to the multitude of His lovingkindnesses.
8 For He said, “Surely they are My people,
Children who will not lie.”
So He became their Savior.
9 In all their affliction He was afflicted,
And the Angel of His Presence saved them;
In His love and in His pity He redeemed them;
And He bore them and carried them
All the days of old.
10 But they rebelled and grieved His Holy Spirit;
So He turned Himself against them as an enemy,
And He fought against them.

Oneness - (unity) of nature or essence.

Deuteronomy 6:4 4 “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one![b] 5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.

Isaiah 6:3-8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying:
“Whom shall I send,
And who will go for Us?”
Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”

Functional role of the Son

Psalm 2:2
The kings of the earth set themselves,
And the rulers take counsel together,
Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying,

Psalm 2:6-7
“Yet I have set My King
On My holy hill of Zion.”
7 “I will declare the decree:
The Lord has said to Me,
‘You are My Son,
Today I have begotten You.

Hosea 11:1
“When Israel was a child, I loved him,
And out of Egypt I called My son.

Isaiah 61:1-3
“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me,
Because the Lord has anointed Me
To preach good tidings to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives,
And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord,
And the day of vengeance of our God;
To comfort all who mourn,
3 To console those who mourn in Zion,
To give them beauty for ashes,
The oil of joy for mourning,
The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;
That they may be called trees of righteousness,
The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.”

Isaiah 53:3-6
He is despised and rejected by men,
A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.
And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him;
He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.
4 Surely He has borne our griefs
And carried our sorrows;
Yet we esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten by God, and afflicted.
5 But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.
6 All we like sheep have gone astray;
We have turned, every one, to his own way;
And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

Functional role of the Holy Spirit

Genesis 1:2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was[a] on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

1 Samuel 16:13-14 13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel arose and went to Ramah.

Nehemia 9:20
You also gave Your good Spirit to instruct them,
And did not withhold Your manna from their mouth,
And gave them water for their thirst.

Ezekiel 36:27 I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.

The next study will be the New Testament Key texts for Trinity with regards to

  • Oneness
  • Threeness

Beautiful post dear thanks for sharing....upvoted and followed

Great study! The functional role of the Father is to be a Father to the Fatherless. To show us by His example how to be a good Father. Many have no earthly father role model in their life. So many broken homes. In the Godhead, the Heavenly Father is our disciplinarian.

Heb 12:9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?

In the verses prior and after we see the role of the Heavenly Father to correct, show us by His correction we a legitimate and to mature us to be patakers of His holiness!
Great and needful study as the false religions and Jesus cults, most all have a problem with the Trinity. Either only one God, the Oneness Group or polytheist like the LDS.
Thanks and God bless!

Thankyou @hope777 I have enjoyed this post very much, although I am going the way of the Hebrew roots and believe in observing the Sabbath and God's Holy feasts , Thank you so much for your post, May Yeshua HaMashiach (Jesus the Messiah) shine His face upon you. Shalom Shalom(Peace be with you)May the Holy Spirit (Ruach Kodesh) continue to lead you and bless you with your teaching others. lots of love.

Thank you for your reply and the wonderful blessings! According to your knowledge which day was the first day of the week in the New Testament times? Much blessings to you too!

According to my knowledge, the first day of the week is saturday evening at sunset to Sunday evening at sunset. When Torah tells us to keep the sabbath , it does not say we can only worship Him on that day only and no other day. God bless

Hey @artywinky could you tell me. Why do Hebrew roots observe the Sabbath and holy feasts; is it for salvation or rewards earth/heavenly rewards? I am doing some research into it and would love to know your response! And do you fact accept the trinity, it was not clear in your comment?

If you are doing research , I can recommend Michael Rood from rood awakening. and no I do not observe the sabbath for earthly rewards. I observe it to get close to God and to rest in Jesus our saviour and to hold communion with Him for what He has done for us on the cross. I have found the truth in Hebrew roots. However , whether we worship on a sunday or saturday , as long as we know where our salvation comes from . I personally accept the trinity. I hope have answered your question. Jesus came to fulfil the covenant, not to do away with it.God bless you and give you Shalom. (peace)I know that I have found peace in Yeshua (Jesus) I have found through the Hebrew roots , Jesus has come alive to me.

very good shared theme, nothing easy to expose, in the end. the trinity is created by faith. blessings a big hug my sister

We believe that the one God eternally exists in three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; and that these three are one God, co-equal and co-eternal, having precisely the same nature and attributes, and worthy of precisely the same worship, confidence, and obedience. Matthew 3:16, 17; Matthew 28:19, 20; Mark 12:29; John 1:14; Acts 5:3, 4; II Corinthians 13:14.
While I am sure that this statement is biblically accurate, I also understand that it can seem very intimidating. Let's break it down into six smaller statements about the trinity that's easier to understand:
One God and One Only
Exists in three Persons
Equal and Eternal
Worthy of equal praise and worship
Distinct yet acting in unity
Constituting the one true God of the Bible

Great post @hope777
It's been a while I have heard of the Trinity.

This post was presented in the latest TCCNS and it was featured in the repost post here.
