God always answers our prayers.

Whatever you ask of the Father in my name, I will do it, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
John 14:13

*** Why does God answer the prayer? *** The last part of today's verse gives the answer: "He answers prayer for his own good and for our sake." He does it to show his power. Understanding this concept increases our confidence in prayer: "We can know that God will respond because it is an opportunity for Him to receive glory." We grow spiritually when we converse with God through prayer and we see his powerful works.

The context of John 14:13 shows that the disciples were very distressed because Jesus told them he would leave. The disciples had depended on Jesus for so long that they feared to be left without Him. Jesus had given them all the resources. He was his beloved friend and his spiritual, theological and economic resource. He was his future and his present. They were terrified to think that He was leaving, but He left them and left us the promise of John 14:13; everything we need and ask in his name, He will do it.
