Greetings fellow Steemians.
Welcome to Week 2 of Open Church
Open Church is an initiative by @majes, @nextgen622 and the Christian trail community on Steemit. It aims to be a place where Christians on Steemit can hang out, encourage and build up one another, and reflect the love of Christ. The church is not a building, but is made up of people who have been transformed by God's grace.
Steemit is not all about money, but it's also a community of real people with real needs. So let us be a community of brothers and sisters that can Truly support one another with our real lives. Hope we can put aside the money element of Steemit and enter into authentic fellowship with one another.
Each week we will be putting up a new post with a new topic or theme for discussion. But feel free to come here just to fellowship and be a blessing to one another. Whatever denominational background your from, or if you're just curious about the Christian faith, everyone is welcome.
So feel free to share a link to your favourite worship song, share a word of encouragement, a prayer request, or introduce yourself. But please do not promote any posts here, or get into any arguments here.
I really like the opening of Hebrews:
It helps me remember that no matter what other people say about God, it truth He looks like Jesus!
Love that verse. Thanks for sharing.
"He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” Rev. 21:4 - the hope that has sustained me all these many years.
Amen. What awesome promises from God, giving us hope in the midst of all our sufferings.
"For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." (2 Corinthians 4:17-18)
Amen!
I am reminded that it is the God of heaven and earth that I serve and it is His pleasure I serve for. All the laughing, jeering, and mocking will one day cease as every knee bends before Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Philipians 2:6-8
Who, being in very naturea God,
did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
7rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very natureb of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
8And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
He died for me.
My favorite has always been Galatians 6:10
“As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.”
God Bless you all..
Great one!
Romans 8:28. We know that in all things God works together for the food of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.
This is my life verse. No matter where life lead me, I knew that as long as I trusted and obeyed Him, everything would turn out for my good. That didn't mean that I would get out of a particular situation I put myself in, but I would grow to be more like Jesus through it.
"So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets." Matthew 7:12 The world would be a better place if more people could live their lives this way. Peace
“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.” - 1 John 1:7
Blessings.
Psalm 73:25-26New International Version (NIV)
25 Whom have I in heaven but you?
And earth has nothing I desire besides you.
26 My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart
and my portion forever.
There is a Chinese worship song based on this Psalm:
Yes I love that song. Use to sing it all the time.
Amen. Love this passage.
John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
Amen.
This is great! I just stumbled upon it. I keep saying I'm new to steemit, but I'm not sure that's true after 2 months; however, I still FEEL new because there is so much to learn. Definitely want to plug into a Christian community and meet some sisters and brothers in Christ. <3
Welcome. Glad you could join and fellowship with us. One way to get more connected could be to join the christian-trail channel on Steemit Chat or follow @christian-trail for our weekly Open Church posts. Bless you. :)
15 years ago this verses from Paul's letter to the Philippians church completely changed may perspective on how I should serve the Lord---pressing on and no turning back...Amen and Glory to God!
Philippians 3:12-14
12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Amen. Thanks for sharing.
My testimony is a little too long for this week's scripture revelation, but I have wrote it in my own separate post about the revelation, which I will probably share my testimony in later days.
Genesis 22:2
My extra revelation from that scripture:
Mount Moriah Moments – when faith is tested
This is a trustworthy saying:
If we die with him,
we will also live with him.
If we endure hardship,
we will reign with him.
If we deny him,
he will deny us.
If we are unfaithful,
he remains faithful,
for he cannot deny who he is.
2 Timothy 2:11-13
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
1TH 5:16-18 ESV
http://bible.com/59/1th.5.16-18.ESV
Scripture that changed my life? Realizing Jesus' role, specifically, before He was a man. It also marks the point when I realised who God is. I don't 'see' the "Trinity" anymore; I see 1 God broken for us, who came to His creation, dies for His creation, who conquered death and rose, so that His creation can be saved.
Genesis 1:1
1In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
John 1-5; 14
1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2The same was in the beginning with God. 3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
14And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Like seriously? Jesus IS the Word. Every time the older testament says "...the Word of the LORD..." that's Jesus.
The very Utterance, the very Breath, the very Word of God is our Saviour; is our Lord.
Creation and Jesus can not exist apart from each other. v.3 "ALL things were made by Him." Creation in its entirety. v4. "In Him was Life." Man has life because of the breath of God, because of Jesus; and we have been made alive by accepting His resurrection.
It was a good day when v14 "The Word was made flesh," sunk in. My faith changed that day, and I never look back.
Jesus IS Lord
Psalm 40: 1-3
I waited patiently for the Lord: and He inclined unto me, and heard my cry
He bought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
And He hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.
Many years ago as a back-slidden Christian, I was in that pit, sunk in the miry clay. He took me, cleaned me and set me on firm ground. He didn't give up on me :)
The whole Bible is filled with awesome wisdom but this verse is one of my favorites. It is so simple and yet has so much depth. It has helped me greatly in my search for truth.
