KEEP DIGGING
Text: Genesis 26:20 - 22 And the herdmen of Gerar did strive with Isaac's herdmen, saying, The water is ours: and he called the name of the well Esek; because they strove with him. And they digged another well, and strove for that also: and he called the name of it Sitnah. And he removed from thence, and digged another well; and for that they strove not: and he called the name of it Rehoboth; and he said, For now the LORD hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.
"What you do in the face of opposition defines what will become of your dreams."
Before you get to Rehoboth in life, that place where God makes room for you, you would more often than not have been through; Esek, the place of contention and Sitnah the place of strife and hatred. Joseph was hated for his dreams but the Bible says he dreamed yet another dream. In our text today, we see the man Isaac facing stiff opposition and heavy resistance. He digs a well and the men of the city takes possession of the wells saying, the water is ours, but he refused to be deterred, neither did he give room to discouragement. He kept digging, he would not take no for an answer, he was too determined that the enemy just could not stop him, he refused to be tired, he simply wearied the opposition. Room would not have been made for Isaac if he had not been persistent in digging.
This is one habit that successes have in common. They always refuse to give up in the face of adversity. They try one thing, not getting the results they desire, they never throw in the towel just like that. They try again and keep trying until they arrive at the results they desire. Same was said of Thomas Edison, the man who invented light bulbs. He tried and failed, yet he kept trying until he got to the one thousandth time where he succeeded and when asked after he succeeded, he said, he had only discovered nine hundred and ninety nine ways through which the light bulbs cannot work. Edison, just like Isaac refused to be discouraged or stopped.
As you go about the pursuit of your highest dreams and set goals again today, know that several obstacles may come your way, you may even have suffered some setbacks in times past, but do not give up, before the brightness of the day is thick darkness, before breakthrough comes, there may have been breakdowns but know this, winners never quit and quitters never win. Like Joseph, dream yet another dream, get back to the drawing board, attempt that feat again, you are one step closer to your Rehoboth - your large and broad place where God would make room for you. #selah
Prayer: Let the spirit of persistence and the inner strength I need to scale hurdles and get to my Rehoboth come upon me today in the name of Jesus.
