2 - Feel Right

in #choices6 years ago

First let me set something straight. I am a Christian. I believe in God and life forever after. I may bring God into my conversation, but I am not trying to change anyone or tell anyone that what they believe in is wrong. I am just voicing some of my thoughts. It’s your "choice" to agree or not.

In today's blog I would like to talk a little about religion. (Again this is my concept). We all have our "Bibles" or other books of the Lord. We know that there are the 10 Commandments to follow - these are the "Golden Rules". I believe that they are quite crystal clear with no room for misinterpretation.

Now the Bible Verses themselves - this is where Religious groups have their different take on many things.
You could look up scripture about divorce and one group will sight a passage that will say.....Matthew 19:3-9 (cf. Mark 10:2-12; Luke 16:18) Jesus taught that divorce itself, in general, is contrary to God's will. God made one man for one woman, indicating He did not intend for either to marry anyone else. He said "they should cleave to one another and the two become one "- (there is no room in God's plan for a third party/affair or new marriage). God joins the man and woman, no human has the right to break that bond.

While another group will sight another passage and say that this is what it means...... 2 Corinthians 5:17, if someone has had a failed marriage, and later got right with God, “all things are done away with”—you get a clean slate as though you had not been divorced, with a fresh start.

This can happen with most everything that you want to know from the Bible. People read different verses and they 'understand' what they read with many different interpretations.

Over the years I have been asking myself "why?", and I have finally come to an answer for myself.
I believe this was done intentionally, because as humans that err and have sins, we are given different examples of the rules. It is up to us to interpret them and use them by what is right to us. We have been given guidance the same way we, as parents give guidance to our children, but then the child makes the choice to do whatever they do with that guidance or knowledge in their mind. Right or wrong, they had the knowledge and they made the choice.
It all comes down to Choices - we are given 'free will' to make choices. With 'free will', there will be consequences.

If you choose this way... then this will happen....
If you choose that way... then that will happen...

We may not always know the consequences, but we do know that whichever way we choose, it is going to lead to somewhere. And that somewhere is a consequence (good or bad).

I believe it all comes down to the choices that you make must always abide within the 10 Golden Rules.... if you are sure that it is within these rules then the next thing you have to decide is what your choices are.... listen very carefully to your inner voice - this could be your intuition, gut feeling... whatever you want to call it... it is probably guiding you correctly.

If you make a decision and it "just doesn't sit right" or "feel right" with you - then you'd better re-think it!

And remember, if we treated each other the way we would like to be treated ourselves, the world would be a better place for all.
