Is it protecting or spying children ?

It has recently reported that some parents in Asian countries are installing apps on their children’s mobile phone that monitor their activities to ensure they use these devices responsibly. These parents believe that it is a good way to protect their children and they think it is their right to spy. However, I think there is more harm than good and parents should stop spying on their children.

My first concern is the trust matter. Trust is a very important factor to maintain relationship. However, parents spy on their kids means that they don’t trust their children. If there is no trust between them, it will be hard to live together. Children always trust their parents because parents are the most important people on their life. Therefore, parents should trust their children too. Although children may be young, they also have their own privacy. Imagine that if someone always reads your diary without asking you, how will you feel? If you will feel bad, then why do you spy on your children? The relation must become bad if your child discover that you are spying on them, so stop spying.

A second connected reason for not spying on children is that spying is not necessary. Someone said that they spied because they wanted to protect children to make their spy become reasonable. However, there is actually not much dangers in the Internet. Also, I believe children should be old enough and they can use the phone responsibly themselves. If you buy them a phone, which means you think they are old enough to own a device. Also now, many teenagers are good at using mobile phone so actually children don’t really need to be protected so much.

Finally, I think it is more important to educate than spying on them. If you were afraid your children will face dangers, than we need to educate. If there is educate well first, they will not fall in dangers easily. Then we don’t need to spy on them. Also, spying can’t solve the problem and can’t help children because without education, they still don’t know how dangerous the Internet is.

In conclusion, I believe strongly that spying on children should be banned because it will destroy the trust between them, and it is no use to spy. Instead of spying, education is a better way to protect kids.
