Xiao Shu was brought up by his grandparents in a rural community in Fujian province. He hardly had any playmates growing up as a child. According to the research involving 6000 children in citys like Guangzhou,Wuhan and Fuzhou ,most of then are single children who are in need of playmates. More and more chinese children find playmates and ease the loneliness from website.
Another child who's name is Chen man,21,every day, gets several calls and text-assages from her parents and grandparents to make shure "everything is fine",Chen man,a single child ,has been the apple of her family's eye ever since she was born. "Sometimes I find my family's love and expectations quite overwhelming",said Chen man.
Single children aren't only the focal point of their families,as a group they are also in the societal spotlight and scrutiny,as they will determine China's future. But experts say the generation of single children shoule be greeted with more tolerance and faith.
Science magazine recently published a report which indicates that China's single children tend to be"more pessimistic, more self-centered and more riskaverse". The higher expectations and pressure to succeed may lead to their being self-centered,less cooperative, and less likely to get along with peers.
An online survey in 2019 by Sina.com of more than 9000 single children in China between the ages of 15 and 25,found that 68percent of respondents felt lonely.
Facing the future alone, they need to be shown more tolerance and confidence from the public.
