The Critical Position
If you want to improve your chess give that position a think before continuing onward.

1.Nf3 d5 2.g3 c5 3.Bg2 Nc6

A08 King's Indian Attack: French Variation

4.O-O e6

This is a little slow against the Kings Indian Attack

5.d3 g6 6.c3 Bg7 7.Re1 Nge7 8.e4 dxe4

This might be a little quick to resolve the tension.

9.dxe4 O-O 10.Nbd2 b6

This seems like a weird decision in this structure, better was perhaps e5.

11.e5 Bb7 12.Qe2 Qc7 13.Nc4

My knight is on the way to d6, if it is allowed to stay on that square it will be very strong.

13...Nd5 14.Nd6 Rfd8 15.Bf4 Rab8 16.Ng5 Rf8 17.Bxd5

This is a decision not taken lightly, the bishop is very strong, the fact of the knight being strong is not significant, the point is purely a tactical point, I evaluated that taking this knight would give me very strong play with e5-e6 this more than compensate for my weak squares around the king.

17...exd5 18.e6 fxe6

I thought he should not take this, but after a little analysis it turns out that the alternatives were not very good either.

19.Qxe6+ Kh8 20.Ngf7+ Rxf7 21.Nxf7+ Kg8 22.Bxc7

Originally I had thought that I would checkmate black with a known mating pattern, then it turned out that his queen were covering it, and then it seemed very simple to capture his queen, which honestly were not the point of the combination.
