A Nice Miniature game, I do like when people don't know their openings.
In this case a kings gambit gone wrong.
The game is available for playthrough here
1.e4 e5 2.f4 d5
My line against the kings gambit, it is a bit rarer than the other options so most white players knows little about it.
3.exd5 e4
C31 King's Gambit, Falkbeer Countergambit, Staunton Line
4.Nc3
[4.d3 This is the theoretical recommendation.]
4...Nf6 5.Bc4 Bc5 6.d4 exd3 7.Qxd3 O-O 8.Nge2 Ng4
This is a move that goes in for a lot of complications, but it is also very solid, almost all the problems in the position are whites.
9.Nd4 Re8+ 10.Kf1 Qf6 11.Nf3 Bf5 12.Qd1 Be3 13.Qe2 Qb6
This move could be a little inaccurate I do not need to play this, probably Nd7 would be a better move. [13...Nd7]
14.Bd3 Bxd3 15.Qxd3 Nd7 16.Ng5 g6 17.Na4 Qf6 18.Bxe3 Nxe3+ 19.Ke2 Qxf4 20.Ne4 Rxe4 21.g3 Ng4+ 22.Kd1
[22.Qxe4 Qxe4+ 23.Kd1 [23.Kf1 Qf3+ 24.Ke1 Qe3+ 25.Kd1 Nf2#] 23...Qe3]
22...Nf2#
Black wins by checkmate.
0-1
Ah, I love the kings gambit. This is like watching a horror show!
Then you should probably look at 2...d5 it can get nasty for white in those lines if white is not up to date with theory.
Yeah the Falkbeer countergambit. Several great youtube tutorials on it. I play it against the kings gambit almost every chance I get.
Looks like your opponent handled it completely wrong here lol.
Yeah that is fairly common when playing against lower rated people, or when he is not booked up, the best moves are not logical in this opening, Nc3 seems like a good move, but in fact d3 is the better move.
