To Change or not to Change, that is the question
I am sure most of you reading this have experienced some form or another of travel, as you might know, one of the advantages of traveling and especially wandering in the world as a nomad, is the fact that you can, in many cases, change your situation anytime you don't agree with specific conditions of the place you arrived to. On one hand this is great as we can always make sure we have only positive experiences, however it also has the potential of depriving us from having to handle difficult or uncomfortable situations, which is where we normally learn and grow.
To Change and not to Change, That is the answer?
I am thinking a lot lately about "change", specifically in regards to our role in the universe. Are we here to change the world? or change ourselves? are we here to teach or learn? or maybe there is no dichotomy and we are here for both? Maybe we fluctuate between external and internal changes in a sine wave form such as this.
Change ourselves first and then the world?
I know about myself that I always strive to change myself first, it is the easier and smarter thing to do in any situation in my view. However, how do we deal with this when we think about world suffering? starving children, tortured animals, crime and more? If I see a man holding a gun and about to shoot another man, do I "change myself" and "work on myself" to not react to the situation, and let the chips fall where they may? or do I do something about it? What if I do something about it, yet the man who's life has been saved is the next Antichrist? Then again, maybe we need an Antichrist which will bring about another awakening thus ushering a period of great abundance and prosperity? At the end of the day who's really to say what is right and what is wrong? what is good and what is bad? Well, we are to say, as we created these definitions in the first place. The fact that they are man-made definition doesn't remove their value necessarily, yet it means we should constantly question what we perceive as good, bad, right, wrong.
Change IS Constant
Therefore, if we are the ones who decide on what is good, bad, right or wrong, we also have the choice to change our perspective. I therefore see change as a constant force which exists in the universe. When we are faced with change, we can appose it thus creating an outward ripple translated into "external change" or we can devour thus creating an "internal change" and learn from it.
What about our biology?
We are biologically and evolutionary wired to respond negatively to change in any form, as from a survival point of view, change means that more energy needs to be used in order to adjust to the new situation, be it looking for new fruit trees, a different shelter etc...
I say Live like Che...
In today's world, change is one of the most constant phenomena, we are learning to embrace it in all aspects of our lives, from the personal to the impersonal and economical world. I leave it to you to chose what to do next time change comes your way, you can let it bounce off you thus creating a change in the world through your resistance or accept it thus creating a change in you which will subsequently create a change in the world. I know about myself that I will always strive for the latter, as in this scenario, I both learn and change the world around me, be it by direct change of perspective or by inspiration.
What about you?
This post is a force of change that came your way, you have read it and now you can decide if you move "Share", "Comment", "Like" this post and potentiality create an External Change and move to a different thing, or you can take it as an opportunity to examine your sets of beliefs about the world around you and teach yourself a new truth. You can of course also do both, the choice is yours! If you want to learn how to make a change, you can always check out my earlier blogs "How I achieve my dreams" and "Why Wonder? (you Wonder?)".
Your writting is very pleasant to read, rolls right off my mind tongue like liquid. Keep up the good work.
Wow! Goose bumps! Thank you so much!!! Did you get value from the post? Do you consider yourself an Internal or External Changer? :)
I consider myself an internal changer. Then again by changing on the inside, don't you change your outside expierence as well?
Absolutely! I talk about it in the blog in fact :) "I leave it to you to chose what to do next time change comes your way, you can let it bounce off you thus creating a change in the world through your resistance or accept it thus creating a change in you which will subsequently create a change in the world."
