Some of my posts last year were about how hard it is to be consistent and to keep posting content regularly. That was something I struggled with and failed at a few times, so this year I decided to try and start out properly. So far I've managed to post every day for a week and it's time that I officially accepted @dragosroua's January 30 Days Writing Challenge. I don't know if he'd agree, but I think I'm already at day 7 as I've already posted something every day of the year.
The personal challenge I had for myself is to write a post per day throughout the whole of January, but since I expected to fail at it during the first week, I decided not to embarrass myself by stating my intentions publicly. Well, now with the first proper milestone achieved, it's time to properly accept the challenge.
I need to say that something that pushed me in the direction of trying something like that was @deirdyweirdy's success with @tonyr's Alphabet Art Challenge. The only reason I'm not doing that is the fact that I don't think my posts can really be described as art.
The Free Stuff!
Of course, if this post was just my announcement of participation, it would be kind of worthless, so I decided to throw in something more. I hope it's going to add a little bit of character to the challenge and allow participants to have a bit of fun while spreading the word and convincing more people to join in.
So I made a set of 3 signature .gifs that people can add to their #challenge30days posts. To use them, just copy and paste the code that's below the one you want to use into your post. Please note that this shouldn't be the only image you use in your post because the feed thumbnails don't work with gifs - you'll only get a black rectangle.

Fair play to ya! I shall be cheering from the sidelines.
I found the a-z challenge quite gruelling at times, unaccustomed to blogging as I am.....but I guess it wouldn't be a challenge otherwise!
As for the art part of the challenge, tonyr assured me that any form of content was acceptable, but I did do my best to use my own images where possible to at least make an effort at 'art'
I think you did superbly and I hope you'll keep blogging even if it wouldn't be daily. I had a good time reading and I also learned some valuable things too. I have no doubt that a challenge like that would be grueling at times, but I think it's the right length to cultivate a habit of blogging that can be carried over. I did have some level of consistency as a goal last year that I missed on, but I hope I'll manage to stick with it this time and for the long run.
I like the alphabet art challenge too and I might try my hand at it afterwards too, but I prefer to start with no constraints but the schedule for now.
Thank you so much for your ongoing support, I appreciate it and it does indeed feel like being cheered on!
Nicely done! Thanks for the info and the inspiration.
My pleasure! So are you getting on board with the challenge then? ;)
Of course! lol
Great work on those gifs, as always, Dave.
Thank you, I'm glad you think so! :)
This is cool since my writing mantra is "Not a dsy without a line", but it's already 8th of January. I think it's too late to start one ;(
No, it isn't. @dragosroua accepts late arrivals, too and you can always start it now and keep going for thirty days. You don't have to start on the first.
I see. Okay. I guess I gotta check his profie out for the mechanics, if there's any. Thanks.
Here's his announcement post. I'll add that link to the post as well.
Thank you.
