I have been doing alot of reading lately about the US Supreme Court. I realized a few months ago that I dont really know that much about this branch of the US government so decided to educate myself. I have learned so much already and have even purchased some straight out law books to study. Thats my academic interest.
My skill interest is Amateur Radio, specifically building, designing and utilizing antennas. I have been able to improve on my understanding of electronics and radio theory while creating some useful pieces of equipment. My next project is a three element Yagi-Uda antenna that I am going to use for Summit On The Air Activations (hiking+amateur radio+points for making contacts=fun!) and hopefully use it to talk to the International Space Station and Amateur radio satellites in orbit.
I am a firm believer that you always need to be working on improving yourself in one way or another and why not make it something useful while you are at it? Thanks for the post @maxinpower!
I'm sure it's always good to have some basic law knowledge. And radio skills are something unique these days, where everyone can just connect by pushing some button on their phone. But I like it, sounds somehow old school and slow paces in today's world. And knowing about electronics could be something for me too, some general understanding can be very useful.
thank you for your comment!!
Amateur Radio is cool because you can talk, send digital messages, tv and pictures and even text messages and emails for free to anywhere in the world with a radio, a computer (in some cases) and and antenna that you can make yourself out of spare wire. It’s really an amazing hobby that blows my mind daily! Not to mention you can run your radio off a battery when you lose power and still be able to communicate free of the internet and the cell phone network! Check it out, its pretty cool!
I know somebody who is into ham radio. Maybe I can check with him
Every Ham I know is always super excited to show people how their stuff works! I live in Vermont in the US and have heard and commicated with people from Australia, Europe, South America and Africa! Definitely check it out at the very least!
Thanks for the idea. Time to call it a day over here.
