"Fortunately we are sooner or later allowed to realize that what really matters lays beyond our ego"

For some reason my mother came to mind after reading this quote. After my father died, no one else's grief seemed to matter to her. No one could possibly hurt as much as she does. Well, that's what she told me in no uncertain terms. And I responded, "Mom, you aren't the only one who hurts and grieves. If you just turn to us (her children) instead of turning inside, you might heal faster." Sadly, she's still turned inward and I've had to put some distance because it was getting toxic.

It could take more time, but I'm sure you won't stop loving her. At he end this will matter the most.

Oh yes, I will always love her. She's blood! But, just like I tell my kids, we have our good and bad days. We love each other no matter what BUT we don't have to like each other all the time. LOL It's a healthy dose of reality.
