Basketball lover, how many of you playing 3 on 3 ball growing up? I am and I am so glad about having the opportunity to see 3 on 3 ball in the Olympic.
The key rules being announced are:
- Half court
- 12-second shot clock
- Scoring goes by 1 and 2 (3 point line)
- 1 period of 10 minute
5 ) First team who score 21 or higher score after 10 minutes win
Today i am browsing the internet and try to think about which player in the NBA will be best fit to such 3 on 3 system and come up this:
Lebron James: I am not very good at the three on three. I am more of a five on five guy.
What? the best player in the world? But he may have a point.
What you need in 3 on 3 ball may not be court vision but the ability to shoot 3, to play 1 on 1 and to get rebound and that's how i will pick the players to the team.
- Kevin Durant - who can shoot 3, take you off dribble, rebound. he is created to play 3-3 ball
- Carmelo Anthony - as above, who has less range than Durant, but could dominate a 3-3 ball format nonetheless.
- Russell westbrooks - he could do it all, defensively and offensively. A nightmare match up for opposite smaller guy.
Who is your top 3?
I would take: Kevin Durant, Kyrie and Anthony Davis.
But most likely NBA Players or European Stars will not play in the tournament:
"Baumann’s statement indicates that the event likely isn’t going to feature NBA superstars. I would expect FIBA to limit Olympic participants to players who have participated in the 3x3 World Tour or at least participated in FIBA-owned qualifying events."
