This is what doing it right looks like, for those of you following this weeks large scale debate between @timcliff and I, and all the problems you face and cite, @Elear and YOUR prioritization of them is exactly what I'm trying to get Tim to see about the greater ecosystem at large.
Build your culture, and tools and communities and retention and visibility and usefulness, then funds wont even be a question. And are rightfully low on your bullet list in order.
good work man, its been fun to watch all this time.
I can still hear the amplifiers ringing from the mic drop.
The theory is obvious. It's all in the delivery.
none of the puns, not one, was intended.
I certainly get it. RFLMAO!!!
Great vision ahead of us @elear. It is easy to lose sight of vision in the midst of solving many problems and difficulties, so this article is helpful to put the vision in front of us again. I see you empowering 'new' life to get the 'open source' movement going by uniting the Utopian community together to move this force. We are definitely moving forward.
Greetings Utopian, the next Mozilla in a purple suit.
For us open source is not about money, it is about engaging the world in a dialogue that questions the fundamentalist economy sustained by the ownership (and enslavement) of ideas. The dominant logical fallacy of the software industry can be found in their relentless endeavors to lobby for laws, tariffs and intellectual property accords that make it possible to “own” ideas and prevent others from using them. By stifling progress the giants of industry are improving their bottom line by selling out the planet. Where did centuries of this type of competition bring us? Dying coral, global flooding and cancer-inducing cities. Cheers to Utopian for helping us remember that the true value we have is to be found in working together.
They also brought us space invaders and pac-man, just sayin'
When the slaves wear golden chains they can find the weight enjoyable... Just sayin'
Utopian is really amazing, I could have never imagined such a service existing when I first found it. I could now publish the work I used to just do in private repositories to the whole world to a community who will see and might use the software I make. It encourages me to make all my software open source.
Like your vision to make utopian a brand I belive alreaday utopian make many successful ...a great platform for open source...

I quite agree with your post @elear. It's really sad that a lot of good projects never see the light of day due to lack of recognition. I am glad that utopian is giving a breathe of fresh air to open source contributors by rewarding them for their hard work, but there is a need to help promote those outstanding projects that really stand out by helping them get visibility. Maybe in the near future utopian will not only reward open source contributors but also promote them.
