I think Steemit already has had a positive impact, It's a game changer for me also on a personal level the community has convinced me, an anti social media person who has had major problems in the past with it, to retry and participate in the platform.
The censorship aspect is the real game changer tho, the amount of information that can't be edited, buried or controlled by the people that control every other information source one way or another.
