I left Fakebook because I found that even amongst my networks, their ‘content’ was a reflection of nearly all social-media content: banal and negative.
And irrespective of some of the crap that happens here, is nothing compared to what I would read there.
Censorship aside, there is a massive problem with hate-mongering, fear-mongering, and what I would call “gossip, rumour, and slander”.
That’s why I love seeing people post photos, stories, artwork, and so on on Steem.
Creative expression is the antidote to this: and doesn’t matter what side of the ideological fence you’re on.
If you’re enjoying creating something from the heart and being acknowledged for that, you won’t be worried about being bitter and twisted about media, politics, etc.
I don’t think the censorship is the issue here — negative newsfeeds are an indication of something deeper in the collective psyche.
Something deeper, angrier, and hateful.

It is concerning that there's so much of it... hidden until the social media age I guess.
In fairness dealing with all the hate is a more pressing question than whether we should censor it.
I only use FB and twitter professionally rather than personally - I actually de activated my original personal FB account for the reasosn you mentioned.
Steem is refreshingly free of all of that nonsense - unless you end up in a flag war of course.

Although I don’t think it was hidden, just that many sectors of society weren’t exposed to it.
I re-activated my Fakebook account and purged all non-close friends. But even still, no one is sharing anything creative there (and all those people are creatives in their own way)... it’s instead become a selling platform, where they’re all advertising and selling their creativity, but not sharing it. That or their whingeing about their lives to get sympathy votes.
I’d hate to be one of these moderators. I think it goes to show the effects that being constantly exposed to that crap!!!!!
It’s not Utopia here on Steem, but it is a far-sight better!!!!! I think we need to authentically celebrate that.

I prefer whinging about society on steem rather than whinging about my life on Facebook. I imagine there's a lot of virtue signalling going on as well!
I can't really criticise people for using Fbook to sell stuff - I do that - educational resources. Whether you regard those as creative is a matter of opinion I guess!

I have no problem with people selling stuff. But FB has definitely become a selling platform which has completely overtaken the sharing of creative output. Although to be fair, it was never that really.
Re: virtue signalling... it’s taught as a sales technique amongst Life Coaches 🙄
