OK! I'M ABOUT TO BRING ON BOARD A NEW COMMUNITY

I have friends that were asked to leave HPFF or HI Point firearms forums, it's been trending down for years anyway, and the mods and administration were constantly being asked to become more heavy handed all the time.

WHAT I REALLY NEED

...is basically a startup guide for NON-Crypto people. My old friend, in real life and online, was the administrator and we have at least one former moderator on board already. But I'm the only one involved at any level, with the new effort, that is into crypto at all. In fact, I only know of 2 regulars other than me who do crypto at all. Pretty sure they would jump right in!!

@followbtcnews
@pfunk
@drakos

Or anyone else with info. We always think of on boarding individuals but I'm not up on adding whole communities who need this service.

As firearm owners, online, we need OPSEC and anonymity if at all possible. There is a strong law and order component, self-policing is a given, and we have many veterans and LEO.

Any help I can find is greatly appreciated 💖

Don't scoff at the subject matter, "Hi Point" firearms are just a common ground item, nearly ALL these folks can participate with crypto, should they choose to do so. We like cheap stuff, but the main idea is VALUE. High Value at low price, in fact.

There was a start at a new host for the offshoot forum, but that was bought TODAY, by the same outfit that has been enforcing the draconian measures and banning folks at the old forum. So I suggested HIVE. We'll see, maybe the censorship-proof hook will get them in here!!

🪝

Sort:

Basically, we're considering locations to create a new community for the old HPFF crew and to draw in new people and rebuild a better community away from the Evil Overlords that just bought half a million forums and are turning them in to restrictive, boring, corporate cookie cutter shells.

Welcome, Rach!
I will "delegate" some Hive to this account, but I see you mist have some already so you could post this reply...

I got 10.000 just for signing up?

The resource credits or RC is the ability to post, vote and comment. One must have sufficient RCs to dunction freely. It's thought that 50 HP (earned or bought, and staked) is a minimum level so folks can play all day. It also makes your voting power bigger.

🔋

Lots to learn here above and beyond a normal forum, but I think you will love the features... you also get paid the dollar figure under your post/comment 7 days after it's voted up! I see someone hit yours pretty bigly

👀

I've read some posts on that forum before.

Hive can host a community for them of course!

To create a community, I would use one of these front ends:

https://peakd.com/communities and click the blue + button in the upper right
https://ecency.com/communities/create

It costs 3 HIVE to make, and it creates a new account which is the community owner account. Make sure the password is well backed up and kept safe and secret. This account has the power to set roles for admins, moderators, etc.

For the community members' Hive accounts, point them here: https://signup.hive.io/

OPSEC/anonymity is every individual's responsibility to learn and employ. The available signup methods have different verifications: SMS, email, crypto payments, or card payments. Signing up with email (Ecency) is probably no different in terms of opsec than the forum signup.

Looks like I should tag @rachgier in this comment too

Very Good!

I'm using Ecency right now, Pfunk and just wondering if you think maybe PeakD might be a bit better for a community administrator? I have not experience with that UI so that is the only reason I am asking.

@rachgier might be too low on RC to reply, I need to get on my laptop and send him some DELI!

Welcome to the hive.

Peakd is a group of folks that decided they could do better than the condenser, hive.blog, there are many, many ui's.
Condenser was the mvp that launched the blockchain.
@quochuy has been updating it.

Here is a guide for new accounts, https://peakd.com/@newbies-guide/.
There are many of those, too.
This one is pretty comprehensive.

This is a likely place for gun content.
I'd suggest teaming up and sharing content.
Getting launched in the hive can be difficult, but lots of people will want to help.

This guide will be important to avoid getting crossways with the content rules.
Too many newbs find out the hard way that every post is read by folks looking for farming of the rewards.
Without them the pool gets dumped and the platform would have failed.
So, we can be a tough crowd, at times.

WELCOME, YOURSELF!!
I'm in my 5th year. 🤣

Alas, it seems the group I'd like to add has too many old timers who don't want to blog and earn, the tide is against coming to the HIVE. I'm making my best pitch, but it seems the 2 main money people want to "spend money" rather than invest...

🤷‍♂️

Boomers may be too web 2.0 to see where all this freedom is headed and get ahead of the curve.

I'm actually just after the boomers, BARELY 🤣

SOME STILL call me a baby boomer, but I'm just 57

Yep, you are tail end of them, 47-64.

Old enough to have hated the slackers, but young enough to finally catch on to their game.

Thanks for great links 👍👍

HPFF has some great info, it would be an awesome resource to add into the Hive arcHives 💪

OPSEC/anonymity is fully under the control of the user, perhaps a simple primer for the on-boarding of the old cavemen & cavewomen from HPFF would be in order.
Likely the biggest help would be a new anonymous email if said new users were concerned. Me? Too late 🤣
