It is a very well preserved medieval mansion, which is 25 kilometers northeast of Brasov, in Bran. Surrounded by an aura of mystery and legend around the myth of Dracula by Bram Stoker, this imposing mansion is a mandatory crossing point for those who follow the Dracula Route through Transylvania. Built on top of a 200-meter-high rock, Dracula's Castle impresses with its towers and turrets. It was built on the site of a fortress from the Teutonic Knights of 1212, and was documented for the first time in an act issued by Louis I of Hungary in 1377 in which it granted the Saxons of Kronstadt (Brasov) the privilege to build the Citadel.

Legend of the Count of Dracula

Many tourists, of course, go to this place intrigued by the great mystery of the supposed Count of Dracula. The Count of Dracula is a character in the novel "Dracula" by Bram Stocker. Stocker created it by being inspired by the real-life character known as Vlad the Impaler. Vlad, in real life, would become the Dracula of the novel.

From 1920 to 1957, Bran served as a royal residence, as the town of Brasov gave it to Queen Maria of Romania. But now it is a museum open to tourists, who can admire the furniture and art that surrounded the queen. The Castle of "Dracula" dominates over the picturesque village of Bran, worth visiting.
