Hello steemit family an emotional greeting especially for @steemchurch equally for @sirknight with his beautiful initiative #celestialchallenge. In today's theme: Wednesday-structures, I will write about the temple of Solomon
The Temple of Jerusalem or the Temple of Solomon was the main sanctuary of the people of Israel and contained in its interior the Ark of the Covenant, the candelabrum of the seven arms and other utensils used to carry out the Hebrew cult in times of the Age Ancient.
It was located in the esplanade of Mount Moriah, in the city of Jerusalem, where the wall of laments, the Dome of the Rock and the Al-Aqsa Mosque are located.
For the first Temple of Jerusalem to take place, King David had in his heart to build a Temple for God and replace the Tabernacle. This because God had consolidated him in the promised land and given him peace with his enemies around. Therefore God approved the idea, but he did not allow David to build The Temple, since he was a man of war and his hands had spilled a lot of blood.
1 Chronicles 28: 3: But God said to me, "You shall not build a house for my name, for you are a man of war and have shed much blood."
For this work to take place, God would choose a descendant of King David, who would build Temple for God. Therefore he chose Solomon, of whom the Bible says: "Behold, a son shall be born unto you, who shall be a man of peace, for I will give him peace from all his enemies round about; therefore, his name will be Solomon, and I will give peace and rest on Israel in his days "
1 Chronicles 28: 9 "And you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father and serve him with a complete heart and with a delightful soul; for all hearts are being searched by Jehovah, and every inclination of thoughts is discerning him. . If you look for him, he will let you find him, but if you leave him he will discard you forever.
the building was carried out in the year 952 a.C. This construction was marked by Phoenician art since, at the king's request, they worked on the project [1]. This work was destroyed between 510-515 under the hegemony of the Babylonian Empire, and was rebuilt in the post-exilic period. In the reign of Herod the Temple was completely remodeled, it was the year 20/19 BC.
The Temple built by Solomon, had dimensions of 60 cubits long (27 meters), 20 cubits wide (9 meters) and thirty cubits high (14 meters). Also, the porch had a length of 20 cubits (9 meters), according to the width of the house, and its width was 10 cubits (4.5 meters)
1st Kings 6.2: The house that King Solomon built for the Lord was sixty cubits long and twenty wide, and thirty cubits high.
In the temple there was a vestibule followed by a couple of enclosures, of which the first was called Hejal or Santo, a sanctuary illuminated by tall windows and whose plant was composed of a double square. There was also a cedar wood floor covering the stone floor. The walls and beams of the floor had a covering of sheets of Lebanon cedar.
The third chamber called Kodesh Ha-Kodashim was the most sacred area of the temple and was located higher than the Hejal; you could only enter it by means of a ladder. Its shape was a cube of 10 meters on each side and in the center was the Ark of the Covenant, a large chest made of acacia wood and covered with gold plates, in which were kept the Tablets of the Law, where they found the 10 commandments engraved.
After the death of Solomon, the temple was desecrated by foreign invasions and also because the Syrian-Phoenician gods were introduced, although it was rededicated in its original conditions by other kings.
In spite of everything, the fame of the Temple of Solomon has transcended the centuries and today as the ideal ideal, in addition to what is important and a source of inspiration in architectural and design aspects.
The Second Temple was re-erected in the same place where the Temple of Solomon had been built before. After the end of the Babylonian captivity, many Jews returned to Jerusalem and, on the initiative of Zerubbabel, Nehemiah and Ezra, decided to rebuild the great sanctuary, which was maintained between 515 a.C. and 70 d.C.
