26 January it's Indian Republic Day. On 26 january 1950, Indian constitution came into effect. This completed country's transition towards becoming an independent republic.

The new Indian Constitution was sketched and approved by the Indian Constituent Assembly and decided to celebrate it on 26th of January every year as India became a republic country.
The celebration is held in grandeur in national capital's India Gate. This year marks the 69th Republic Day of India and like every year, the highlight of the day is the parade that takes place at the India Gate.

Today, the Republic Day celebration will have 10 heads(Heads of ASEAN states) from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippnes, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam. - as chief guests.

Chief Guests on Republic Day of India 2018

The chief guests on Republic Day of India 2018 would be 10 Great Leaders of the 10 nations of the world (Heads of ASEAN states). Below is # the list of names of Chief Guests and their Nations:

1) Sultan and incumbent Prime Minister Hassanal Bolkiah – Brunei

Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan of Brunei is also the first and current Prime Minister of Brunei. He acceded to the throne after the abdicatrion of his father Omar Ali Saifuddien III.

2) Prime Minister Hun Sen – Cambodia

Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia has been in office since 1985. He is Cambodia's longest serving head of government.

3) President Joko Widodo – Indonesia

Joko Widodo, President of Indonesia since2014, is the first in his country without a high-ranking political or military background. Prior to becoming president, he served as the Governor of the Indonesian capital, Jakarta.

4) Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith – Laos

Thongloun Sisoulith, the Prime Minister of Laos, previously served as the Deputy Prime Minister of Laos, from 2001 to 2016. He was also the country's Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2006 to 2016.

5) Prime Minister Najib Razak – Malaysia

Dato Sri Mohammad Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak, Prime Minister of Malaysia was sworn into office in 2009. He is the eldest son of Abdul Razak Hussein, Malaysia's second Prime Minister and nephew of Hussein Onn, Malaysia's third Prime Minister.

6) President Aung San Suu Kyi – Myanmar

Aung San Suu Kyi, State Councillor of Myanmar serves as the country's de facto leader and has been in office since 2016. She was also the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1991.

7) President Rodrigo Roa Duterte – Philippines

Rodrigo Duterte is the President of Philippines, who took office in 2016. The 71-year-old is the oldest in his country to assume presidency.

8) President Lee Hsien Loong – singapore

Lee Hsien Loong, the third can current Prime Minister of Singapore has been in office since 2004. Mr Lee is the eldest child of Singapore's first first Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew.

9) Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha – Thailand

General Prayut Chan-o-cha, a retired Royal Thai Army officer and current Prime Minister of Thailand, heads Thailand's military junta. He came to power after a military coup in 2014.

10) Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc – Vietnam

Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Prime Minister of Vietnam and member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam. Nguyen Xuan Phuc became the Prime Minister in 2016, at the 11th working session of the 13th National Assembly.

The 69th Republic Day parade will see participants not only from the Indian Army, Air Force, Navy, but it will also showcase over 700 students across the guest countries performing at the event.

What are Special on Republic Day of India, 2018

Following are the special to be happened on Republic Day of India in New Delhi in 2018:

India will celebrate its Republic Day 2018 with the great leaders of all 10 Asean countries (Association of South East Asian Nations). This year in 2018, it is happening for the first time in Indian history that 10 chief guests would grace the Republic Day of India. It is very special because the Southeast Asian bloc completed its 50 years of formation (created on 8 August 1967) and India completed its 25 years of partnership (started in 1992) with the grouping in 2017.
It is for the first time that ASEAN Flags will be displayed through fly in the sky over Rajpath.
It is for the first time that one of the floats will show “All India Radio” to display Prime Minister’s monthly address “Mann Ki Baat”.
One of the floats will be there from Income Tax Department to display anti-black money drive.
113 BSF women will perform motorcycle stunts such as pyramid, shaktiman, fish riding, seema prahari, bull fighting, etc.
Aircraft Carrier (IAC) Vikrant is going to be displayed by the Indian Navy which will be commissioned in 2020.
“Nirbhay missile” and the “Ashwini radar system” from The Defence Development and Research Organization will be displayed.
“Airborne Early Warning and Control System (Netra) is going to fly over the Rajpath.
Group of students from Delhi school will perform to represent Indo-ASEAN ties.
Around 700 students from the guest countries will perform in the parade other than the Indian Army, Air Force, and Navy.
A float by Punjab will be displayed under the theme “Sangat and Pangat” (Sangat means communal harmony; Pangat means community kitchen) representing love for humanity.
Kathak and folk dances of many countries like Malaysia, ** Cambodia**, Thailand, etc will be displayed.
Around 61 tribal guests are invited to participate in the Republic Day celebration.
100-odd government agencies are involved in the preparations of Republic Day parade 2018.
State capitals will celebrate republic day in the presence of governors of state.
